About the NMJHS

The New Mexico Jewish Historical Society was organized in 1985 to pursue the fascinating and often amazing story of the Jews of New Mexico. The Society leads the Southwest in research, archive development, genealogy, oral history, and publishing. Our efforts are focused on following the path from the 1600's when Sephardic Jews lived in secret to European Jews who moved to America and transformed the landscape of social and economic life in theTerritory of New Mexico. Offering workshops, lecture programs, concerts and audio-visual presentations, the Society organizes monthly programs for its membership.

Our quarterly newsletter offers the latest information and discoveries about Jewish life in our region. We welcome your participation in the work we do and hope you will look through our web site carefully so that you can get a taste of the excitement being generated on this tantalizing topic of interest. Please let us have your comments and let us know how we can respond to your view of the story of the Jews of New Mexico.

The NMJHS is a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of New Mexico.
