The Bibo Legacy

They appeared to have married within their faith when it was possible. Dr. Floyd Fierman has noted, ěthe chromosomes of the Bibos can be found among groups designated as Indians, Roman Catholic, those of Mexican descent, and in their descendants who still adhere to Judaism. Seven brothers and three sisters have left their lasting impression on the Southwest, not in enduring institutions, but in people and in legend.î

The fascinating story of the Bibosí influence in New Mexico continues to this day. Descendants of the early pioneer Bibos live in Grants and Albuquerque. The oldest, Irene Bibo Arrossa, will be introduced at our November conference when we are at the Acoma pueblo. She has vivid recollections of her great uncle, Solomon Bibo, and remembers many wonderful facets of Bibo life which she will share with us. A special video of an interview with Irene and her niece, Jean Bibo, will be shown on the bus as part of our day trip to the Acoma Pueblo.
